Bachelors of Pharmacy is a Four- Year Undergraduate Course. The Course curriculum combines Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy where Students can learn the various methods of Drugs Formulations, Drug analysis, Natural and synthetic sources of Drug extraction methods and Mechanism of Actions of Drugs. The Course enables candidates to practice the profession of a pharmacist after the completion of the Degree.

The Regulatory Body for the Program is the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), responsible for laying down all norms and regulations for the B. Pharmacy Course.

Scope of Pharmacy Profession

A career in the Pharmaceutical Sciences / Pharmacy is full of opportunities. A Pharmacy professional can venture into:

  • Research Development:

    Pharmacy industry is one such industry that thrives on research and development. Highly skilled pharmacy professionals are required for research of new drugs, process development, formulation development, toxicological Studies and clinical trials.

  • Academics:

    Pharmacy graduates can also opt for Teaching Profession and can spread the light of Knowledge.

  • Hospital Pharmacist:

    Although it might be a trend of the US or Canada, but it is one that seems to be set in India as well. The pharmacists in the hospitals are the bestinformed individuals for prescribing a drug. Mostly in western countries, the diagnosis is made by the Doctors but the pharmacists decide the medicines and their dosage. Therefore, Pharmacy graduates have an important role and can earn attractive remuneration and can occupy strategic positions both in government and private hospitals.

  • Analysis Testing:

    Analysis and testing go hand in hand with this industry specially in order to maintain proper Quality control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA). Highly skilled pharmacy professionals are required by Pharmaceutical industries to deal with sensitive analytical techniques and sophisticated instrument.

  • Production Manufacturing:

    Highly skilled Pharmacy professionals are required for production and manufacturing of Biologics, Parenteral, Pharma, Cosmetics, API, Hormones and Food Industries etc.

  • Regulatory Bodies

    There are bodies that control and regulate medicines. FDA is the regulatory body that deals with governing and implementing the rules and regulations for the Drug and Pharmaceutical industry. The opportunities as Drug Inspector (DI), Assistant Drug Controller, Deputy Drug Controller, Drug Controller of State and Drug Controller of India DCI) is an option one can aspire for.

  • Marketing Professionals:

    The Pharmaceuticals sales and marketing is considered to be a highly technical arena and hence one of the best when it comes to perks.

  • * Module I, II, III IV will be Evaluated in VIIth Semester under Practice School (BP706PS). Each Module has two components 1. Conference/Seminar 2. Industrial training. Students have to submit a report for each module in the format provided by the University, and a copy of the certificate (for the participation completion of Conference/Industrial Training) enclosed within the Report.
  • # Course code from BP803ET to BP812ET are Elective Subjects, Students have to select only 2 out of these subjects.

Admission Modalities

The B Pharmacy program is a full-time, campus-based program.

Eligibility

An Applicant should have passed the 10+2 examination with an aggregate of 50% and above marks conducted by the respective State/ Central Government Authorities with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) or Biology (PCB / PCMB) as optional subjects.

Any student possessing any other qualification as approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above Examinations shall also be considered for admission to the B. Pharmacy Program.

Admission Process

The admissions are made through IU HP application form. Eligible applicants are required to apply for the program by filling the Application Form. All the final year students who have not received the original certificates from the Board/ Universities by August 16, 2024 will be admitted provisionally. Their admission will be confirmed subject to their passing the qualifying examination and meeting the minimum requirements as indicated above.

The registration of the applicants not meeting the criteria by September 17, 2024 will be cancelled and only 50% of the semester fee will be refunded after notifying the cancellation of the seat by the University. Those students who apply for cancellation of their seat on or before 16, 2024, `1,000 will be deducted as Administrative charges and rest of the amount paid will be refunded.

Interview

The applicants will have to go through a personal interview at the campus. This is to determine the students' attitude and motivation to pursue the program. All original certificates including the Domicile certificate, Caste Category (in case of SC/ST/OBC students) should be produced for verification at the time of interview. The original certificates will be returned after verification.

The admission decision will be communicated after the interview process. All the selected students will be required to pay an amount of Rs. 10,000 towards confirmation of seat which will be adjusted in the first semester program fee.

Special Reservation

There shall be a special provision for admission of students belonging to the State of Himachal Pradesh in any program of the University, which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) percent of seats in each course/discipline subject to the students meeting the minimum qualifying requirements referred to above.

Application Modalities

How to Apply: Students interested can apply by any one of the following methods

A) Online Application: Applicants can apply online by filling up the Application Form available at www.iuhimachal.edu.in and make payment of ₹500 towards online Registration charges by using Credit / Debit Card (Visa / Master Card/ Citibank Card) or Internet banking option using secure internet payment gateway. Applicants applying online should attach their scanned colour photograph along with the Online Application. The Prospectus will be sent to such applicants.

B) Fill the Application Form: Applicants can fill in the application form and send it to the Admissions Office.

Guidelines to complete the Application Form

The students are advised to read the guidelines carefully before completing the Application Form for Admission.

Students have to enclose self-attested copies of the following certificates (Attestation should be done by any Gazetted Officer/Principal of the College).

  1. Please make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria before filling up the Application Form.
  2. Fill the Application Form in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  3. Provide all available information under appropriate sections.
  4. Make sure to sign the Application Form.
  5. Retain a photocopy of the completed Application Form
  6. Enclose a Demand Draft of ₹500 drawn in favour of “The ICFAI University, Himachal Pradesh - Fee Collection A/c” payable at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.

Attested Copies of Certificates

Students have to enclose self-attested copies of the following certificates-

  • Date of Birth Certificate /Class X Certificate
  • Marks sheets of Class XII / Diploma / Graduation Degree Certificate.
  • Score card of JEE (Main) / HPCET 2024 for B.Tech and qualifying exam for MBA.
  • Domicile Certificate.
  • Caste Category (In case SC/ST/OBC students).
  • Any other certificates pertaining to academic and other activities

Fee Schedule

Program Fee: The Student has to pay the program fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates which will be indicated in the Student Handbook. The first semester fee is to be paid on or before August 16, 2024.

Note 1 : In addition to the above program fee, students needs to pay the following fee along with the last semester program fee. (1) Alumni Association Membership Fee: 1,500, (2) Convocation Fee: 3,000

Note 2 : The Proposed Courses are subject to the approval of the Govt./ Bodies

Caution Deposit: All students are required to pay the caution deposit along with the first semester fee. The caution deposit will be refunded to students on completion of the program. Caution Deposit and Security Deposit are not adjustable against Program Fee and other dues.

Hostel Facility: The Hostel accommodation is available for the Girls in the University Campus and for Boys at Plot No. C - 132, HIMUDA Integrated Township, V.P.O: Mandhala, Via: Barotiwala, Tehsil: Baddi, District: Solan – 174103, Himachal Pradesh (which is approximately 5 K.M from the University Campus).

Hostel Mess Charges for Girls Boys: Hostellers have to pay ₹4,500 per month (fixed) for the Mess charges.

Transport Facility: For the Students travelling from the surrounding areas to the Campus, the transport facility is available. Fee as applicable will be charged at the time of admission.

Semester System: The University follows the Semester system for all its Program. Each Academic Year consists of two Semesters. Continuous Evaluation through monthly tests, assignments and quizzes etc., along with an End-Semester Examination is conducted for each Semester.

Elective Courses: The Academic Structure of the Program provides Students with an opportunity to choose elective Courses from the bouquet of Courses offered by the University. The actual offering of the electives will however depend on an optimal number of Students opting for the same elective. It is up to the University to offer or not to offer a particular elective Course.

Scholarships: Scholarships are provided to the Meritorious Students.

Award of Degree: After the successful completion of the Program, the Students will be awarded a Degree in their respective discipline by the University subject to the Rules/Regulations of the University.

Merit Scholarships

The ICFAI University Himachal Pradesh offers Merit scholarships to the Students pursuing the UG and PG Programs. The scholarships are based on the performance in qualifying Examination and Semester wise performance during the Program.

A. 1. Merit Scholarships based on past academic record: The percentage achieved in qualifying examination (or its equivalent) will decide the amount of scholarship. The scholarship will continue semester after semester only on maintaining the minimum 6.0 GPA.

* Note: - Above Scholarship amount would be adjusted equally 6 installments for B.Tech (Lateral Entry), BBA, B.Sc., B.Com, BCA Program. and 4 installments for MBA, M.Com and M.Sc. Program. First Semester scholarship amount shall be adjusted against fees in the second Semester.
