The minimum qualifications for admission into a Ph. D. Program are:

  • A 1-year/2-semester master's degree program after a 4-year/8 semester bachelor's degree program OR
  • A 2-year/4-semester master's degree program after a 3-year bachelor's degree program or qualifications declared equivalent to the master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, OR
  • M. Phil. degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution.
  • Masters Degree in Law with a Minimum of 55% Marks or an equivalent CGPA along with the UGC-NET / SLET/ IUHP Entrance examination as per the UGC Guidelines.
  • A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree program should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade shall be allowed to SC/ST/OBC/Differently-able, EWS and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

The University is committed to providing an outstanding environment for excellence in Research and Development. The Ph.D. Program of the University is a three-year (Regular) and four-year (Part-time) Program that emphasizes developing the Student’s capacity to conduct original Research. The Program encourages the Student to work independently and also to be able to identify, analyze and solve basic and applied Research problems effectively and creatively.

The Program is organized in four stages, viz., Course Work, Course work Examination, DRC (Departmental Research Committee), RAC (Research Advisory Committee), for Approval of Synopsis that includes Topic of Research and Research work, publishing of papers, RAC (Pre-Ph.D. Submission) and Thesis Submission.

The Admission Modalities are with reference to the Ph.D Program offered by the ICFAI University, Himachal Pradesh. The medium of instruction is English.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Ph.D. in Management/ Commerce: The minimum qualification for admission tothe Ph.D. Program in Management/ Commerce is a Masters Degree in Management/ Commerce with 55% marks or equivalent grade/ CGPA or equivalent qualification as recognized by the University or with 50% marks for those belonging to the SC/ST Category. The University shall admit Applicants to the Ph.D. Program through an Entrance Test to be conducted by the University. The Applicants who have qualified the UGC- NET / SLET Examination or as prescribed by the UGC/the concerned Regulatory Bodies shall be exempted from the Entrance Test.
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry: The minimum qualification for admission to the Ph.D. Program in Chemistry is a Masters Degree in Chemistry with 55% marks or equivalent grade/ CGPA or an equivalent qualification as recognized by the University or with 50% aggregate marks for those belonging to the SC/ST Category. The University shall admit Applicants to the Ph.D. Program through an Entrance Test to be conducted by the University. The Applicants who have qualified the UGC-NET / SLET / CSIR- NET Examination or as prescribed by the UGC/the concerned Regulatory Bodies shall be exempted from the Entrance Test.
  • Ph.D. in Physics: The minimum qualifications for admission to the Ph.D. Program in Physics is a Masters Degree in Physics with 55% marks or equivalent grade/ CGPA or an equivalent qualification as recognized by the University or with 50% aggregate marks for those belonging to the SC/ST Category. The University shall admit Applicants to the Ph.D. Program through an Entrance Test to be conducted by the University. The Applicants who have qualified the UGC-NET / SLET /CSIR- NET Examination or as prescribed by the UGC/the concerned Regulatory Bodies shall be exempted from the Entrance Test.
  • Ph.D. in Mathematics: The minimum qualifications for admission to the Ph.D. Program in Mathematics is a Masters Degree in Mathematics with 55% marks or equivalent grade/ CGPA or an equivalent qualification as recognized by the University or with 50% aggregate marks for those belonging to the SC/ST Category. The University shall admit Applicants to the Ph.D. Program through an Entrance Test to be conducted by the University. The Applicants who have qualified the UGC-NET / SLET / CSIR- NET Examination or as prescribed by the UGC/the concerned Regulatory Bodies shall be exempted from the Entrance Test.
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering: The minimum qualification for admission to the Ph.D. Program in Computer Science and Engineering is a Masters Degree in Computer Science with 55% marks or equivalent grade/CGPA or an equivalent qualification as recognized by the University or with 50% aggregate marks for those belonging to the SC/ST Category. The University shall admit Applicants to the Ph.D. Program through an Entrance Test to be conducted by the University. The Applicants who have qualified the UGC-NET / SLET / GATE with a valid score (3 Years) Examination or as prescribed by the UGC/the concerned Regulatory Bodies shall be exempted from the Entrance Test

Application Modalities

How to Apply: Students interested can apply by any one of the following methods:

A) Online Application: Applicants can apply online by filling up the Application Form available at www.iuhimachal.edu.in and make payment of ₹500 towards online Registration charges by using Credit / Debit Card (Visa / Master Card/ Citibank Card) or Internet banking option using secure internet payment gateway. Applicants applying online should attach their scanned colour photograph along with the Online Application. The Prospectus will be sent to such applicants.

B) Fill the Application Form: Applicants can fill in the application form and send it to the Admissions Office.

Guidelines to complete the Application Form

The students are advised to read the guidelines carefully before completing the Application Form for Admission.

Application Form

Students have to enclose self-attested copies of the following certificates (Attestation should be done by any Gazetted Officer/Principal of the College).

  1. Please make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria before filling up the Application Form.
  2. Fill the Application Form in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  3. Provide all available information under appropriate sections.
  4. Make sure to sign the Application Form.
  5. Retain a photocopy of the completed Application Form
  6. Enclose a Demand Draft of ₹500 drawn in favour of “The ICFAI University, Himachal Pradesh - Fee Collection A/c” payable at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.

Attested Copies of Certificates

Students have to enclose self-attested copies of the following certificates-

  • Date of Birth Certificate /Class X Certificate
  • Marks sheets of Class XII / Diploma / Graduation Degree Certificate.
  • Score card of JEE (Main) / HPCET 2024 for B.Tech and qualifying exam for MBA.
  • Domicile Certificate.
  • Caste Category (In case SC/ST/OBC students).
  • Any other certificates pertaining to academic and other activities

Original Certificates

Students have to submit following original certificate-

  • Migration Certificate
  • Character Certificate

Notarized Affidavit

Students have to submit the following affidavit:

  • Gap Year Affidavit (In case of gap in studies).
  • Anti-Ragging Affidavit (Compulsory).

Note: Students have to submit five passport size photograph with application form.

Program Fee

The Student has to pay the program fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates which will be indicated in the Student Handbook. The first semester fee is to be paid on or before August 16, 2024.

Note 1 : In addition to the above program fee, students needs to pay the following fee along with the last semester program fee. (1) Alumni Association Membership Fee: 1,500, (2) Convocation Fee: 3,000

Note 2 : The Proposed Courses are subject to the approval of the Govt./ Bodies

Caution Deposit: All students are required to pay the caution deposit along with the first semester fee. The caution deposit will be refunded to students on completion of the program. Caution Deposit and Security Deposit are not adjustable against Program Fee and other dues.

Hostel Facility: The Hostel accommodation is available for the Girls in the University Campus and for Boys at Plot No. C - 132, HIMUDA Integrated Township, V.P.O: Mandhala, Via: Barotiwala, Tehsil: Baddi, District: Solan – 174103, Himachal Pradesh (which is approximately 5 K.M from the University Campus).

Hostel Mess Charges for Girls Boys: Hostellers have to pay ₹4,500 per month (fixed) for the Mess charges.

Transport Facility: For the Students travelling from the surrounding areas to the Campus, the transport facility is available. Fee as applicable will be charged at the time of admission.

Semester System: The University follows the Semester system for all its Program. Each Academic Year consists of two Semesters. Continuous Evaluation through monthly tests, assignments and quizzes etc., along with an End-Semester Examination is conducted for each Semester.

Elective Courses: The Academic Structure of the Program provides Students with an opportunity to choose elective Courses from the bouquet of Courses offered by the University. The actual offering of the electives will however depend on an optimal number of Students opting for the same elective. It is up to the University to offer or not to offer a particular elective Course.

Scholarships: Scholarships are provided to the Meritorious Students.

Award of Degree: After the successful completion of the Program, the Students will be awarded a Degree in their respective discipline by the University subject to the Rules/Regulations of the University.
